Xiuhtezcatl joins forces with BARDO to generate an effortlessly funky ode to feeling good on their new single “We’re All Just Stars.” Together they cultivate an ebullient rhythm of dreamy lushness with one goal in mind: synthesizing the radiance of warmth and light of the sun through music. You’ll also have the chance to catch Xiuhtezcatl in concert at The Moroccan Lounge on November 6th and at The Echo on December 16th when they open up for BARDO.
Driven by a buoyantly groovy beat “We’re All Just Stars” overflows with a swaggering and joyous positivity — one rooted in creating heartfelt music that illuminates the soul. Guided by the pair’s galvanizing croons and a warbling tangle of riffs the track does just that. Its melody arrives like a beaming ray of light through dark clouds: “Nobody ‘gon take my swag away / I peep the energy you send my way / Raindrops fallin with the top down.”

But underneath all that glowing energy is an affirmation of the power that lies in such earnest creativity. “Real art / Coming from the heart,” Xiuhtezcatl professes against the song’s fluid rhythms. “Uncompromised / They gon realize they can’t program the sun to rise.” A few verses later BARDO lends his own assurances to the song’s refulgent flow: “The people are ready / The feelin is / What its gotta be / Drop that monster sound / For the whole country.”
“We’re All Just Stars” also comes with a music video directed by William Andrade. True to the song’s optimistic spirit the film follows both Xiuhtezcatl and BARDO as they spend an afternoon reveling in a verdantly picturesque landscape — biking through the greenery, climbing trees, diving into waterfall pools. Summer might be ending but that doesn’t stop the duo from emitting some seriously irresistibly soul-enriching vibes.
