From their newest album, The//Glow, out via ONErpm, dream pop band Mild Orange is embracing an optimistic view on “Searching For.”

Hailing from New Zealand, the four-piece has been undergoing multiple seismic shifts since their 2018 debut, Foreplay. Among those changes was moving to London, which saw the four members adjust to the new environment and write about their experiences through songs like “Searching For.”

“‘Searching For’ is about persisting the roads less known, despite how challenging it may be, and realising that in order to get to where you want to be that you can’t do everything yourself or you risk winding up in isolation,” said frontman/producer Josh Mehrtens. “So much of what makes you ‘you’ is from the guidance and positive influence those around you have.”

Naturally, the subject matter of “Searching For” has the band grappling with life’s big challenges over nostalgic production fitting for their anthemic brand of dreamy rock. In the same vein as other indie rock bands from the late 2000s to early 2010s, Mild Orange effortlessly blends pop sensibilities with the sort of edge you can only get from an up-and-coming act.

However, “Searching For” is far from an angsty scream into the void; instead, it finds Mild Orange coming out on the other end fully capable of drawing from personal experiences and carrying their own on an international tour.

Unfortunately, their US tour dates were canceled due to US visa issues and other factors. But based on “Searching For” and the rest of the album, the demand for Mild Orange will bring them back in no time.
