Kneecap announced this morning that they are cancelling all 15 of their sold-out U.S. tour dates due to the proximity of member Mo Chara’s (Liam Óg Ó hAnnaidh) next court hearing in London on September 26. The Irish punk-rap group was scheduled to embark on their U.S. tour on October 1 at The Rooftop at Pier 17 in New York City.
Fans who purchased tickets to Kneecap’s U.S. tour will receive refunds.
Kneecap will continue with their four sold-out Canadian shows, which begin with two shows on October 15 in Toronto, followed by two more in Vancouver starting on October 22. The group will also continue on with their sold-out European and UK tour, taking them through the end of the year, with show dates in Belfast, Copenhagen, London, Dublin, and more.
Ever since Kneecap’s heroic (and what will be lauded as historic in years to come) Coachella performance last April, where they voiced pro-Palestine messaging both verbally and visually, the group has faced much scrutiny for speaking up about the Palestinian genocide, and is now experiencing what many have compared to a “witch hunt.”
While Coachella was loaded with artists and bands voicing and showing solidarity for Palestine, Kneecap has been the most prolific at the festival (and many other festivals), which resulted in a “smear campaign” against the band, including celebrities like Sharon Osbourne (who was fired from ‘The Talk’ amid racism claims), calling for the revocation of Kneecap’s work visa.”
Since the attempts to censor Kneecap, the group’s fan base has grown at light speed with millions of new fans supporting them around the world, including fellow artists, actors, and celebrities. The support for Kneecap has been remarkable.
Despite the U.S. tour cancellation, Kneecap has also announced a surprise for their U.S. fans that they will be sharing next week.

“To all our US based fans, we have some bad news. Due to the close proximity of our next court hearing in London on September 26 – as the British government continues its witch-hunt – with the start of the U.S. tour, we will have to cancel all 15 U.S. tour dates in October. With every show fully sold out this is news we are sad to deliver. But once we win our court case, which we will, we promise to embark on an even bigger tour to all you great heads. Canadian shows are NOT affected and we will be playing our 4 sold out shows in Vancouver and Toronto.
We also have some good news. We will be sharing something very special for US fans next week so that we can still link in with you all in October. It’s top secret for now but all will be revealed next week – stay tuned.

When Irish-bred rap group Kneecap capped off 2024 with a new album, Fine Art, and a movie based on their story, those unfamiliar might be surprised by their sudden success. But one listen of their 2019 single, “H.O.O.D,” and it’s a surprise it took so long for the unapologetic trio to make it big on an international scale.
Hailing from Belfast and Derry, Kneecap (Mo Chara, Móglaí Bap, and DJ Próvaí) knows a thing or two about speaking up against oppression.
Despite being an ocean separated from the United States, where hip-hop acts often spawn from, the genre’s gradual expansion overseas means artists like Kneecap have taken note. Their resulting sound is one reminiscent of the defiant politics that defined groups such as Public Enemy, but carrying with it Irish republicanism beliefs.
