The former frontman of Los Angeles’ beloved Chicano Batman is spreading his disco wings and soaring through a vibrant spectrum of Latin rhythms on his new song “Ámame.” Sung entirely in Spanish, Bardo shines a light on his Mexican and Colombian roots with this groovy love letter.
When a song hits your soul, and has you dancing to every beat and hitting repeat, whether you’re sorting the laundry or going on your morning run or just cruising down the boulevard to meet up with a friend or like me, pick up your kid at school (and you best believe I’m blasting that ish all the way up until pick up), that’s when you know it’s memorable song that hits all the right feels.
When I hear this song, it vibrates with nothing but good vibes. When I listen to it, I can’t help but imagine my parents back in the 70s, dancing the night away with family and friends to the sounds of their home countries. There’s just something very warm and comforting about that.

Bardo’s new album, Transformation Time, is out now via Stones Throw. The album is a textured listen as the songs shapeshift through soul, funk, rock, disco, and plenty of Latin rhythms. The collection of 12 songs reflects Bardo’s evolution, healing from burnout, experiencing fatherhood, and exploring a new chapter in his musical career where no single genre can hold him down.
Bardo is heading out on tour this November, with a Los Angeles show at The Echo on November 14 and a nearby gig at Alex’s Bar in Long Beach on November 16.
