When it comes to new releases with top-tier production, it doesn’t get much better than “Company,” the latest offering from Hether and Orion Sun off the former’s debut album, Holy Water, out Oct. 24 via R&R.

Paul Castelluzzo, the producer and artist behind Hether, has also worked as a mixer and engineer, his work earning him credits on tracks from fellow multi-talented musicians including Clairo, Kali Uchis, and Dominic Fike, among many others.

The release of his upcoming debut is the culmination of credits accumulated primarily behind the scenes, showing a different side to Castelluzzo and bringing him to the forefront. Fittingly, an equally talented artist like Orion Sun joins him on “Company,” a well-crafted feast of sounds that finds Orion Sun longing for someone’s, well, company.

At first, the ominous twinkles that open the track leave listeners on their toes. But Orion Sun’s angelic voice soon comes into the picture, guiding them through crunchy drums atop distant jazz arrangements that reflect Hether’s already proven body of work as a producer.

From there, it becomes clear why the two share ownership of the song, with the vocals complementing an instrumental full of personality. Whether it’s the flute that comes and goes like a snake sneaking in grass or the velvety guitar that similarly cuts through the drums, there’s no denying how much of a banquet “Company” is.

See Hether in LA at Lodge Room on Nov. 5.
