10 years after they came onto the scene, Long Beach four-piece Asi Fui is coming full circle for their newest full-length album, Say So, out Nov. 21 via Unit E Records, on “Roundabout.” The upcoming album marks several milestones for the band, with it being its first time pressing vinyl.

With the new track and video, the band is staying true to lead singer Tatiana Velazquez’s method of songwriting, all while delivering on their swirl of dream-pop that they’ve perfected over the years.

“A lot of my lyrics are ones of fighting yourself out of certain predicaments tooth and nail to take hold of your life and become the best version of yourself,” said Velazquez. “They’re all meant to empower the defeated. ‘Roundabout’ is an extension of that, and how we can only depend on ourselves to get out of certain loops we get stuck on.”

From the start, the muffled drums and hazy atmosphere make you feel as though you’re floating through the track rather than simply listening along. Velazquez’s vocals soon come into the picture, drifting atop the steadily intensifying drums and guitar riffs that hint at Asi Fui’s ability to break out of genre classifications at a moment’s notice.

What’s most impressive is how the band captures the feeling of aimlessness, with the simple admission of “I don’t know much more about it” during the chorus serving as a liberating statement than a sign of defeat. The fact that Asi Fui can zero in on specific emotions and make them sound grand through their dreamy lens is a testament to their artistry.
