Earlier sunsets invite longer nights, and that was certainly true at the Moroccan Lounge, where Toronto-based alt dance music artist Debby Friday headlined a Friday night show, joined by dance arts center.
It was an intimate gathering on a breezy evening. Although the performance started behind schedule, friends and family filled the back of the venue while eager fans lined up in front, ready to transform the worn wooden floors into a dance floor.

Dance arts center kicked off the night with an improv-style one-woman show, featuring comedic skits, pliés, and New Age show tunes—entertainment worthy of a cabaret that would impress even Liza Minnelli. Meanwhile, Debby Friday took the stage, transporting the audience into a fog-filled dance club atmosphere, delivering precisely what everyone hoped for: an opportunity to let loose, enjoy themselves, and make new friends. Although the microphone was a bit lower than ideal, it still served as a solid foundation for an excellent performance.
Highlights of the night included “video” from dance arts center and Debby Friday’s track, “All I Wanna Do Is Party.”
The vibes were vibing, as the kids would say, and we all left a little more tired and way more sweaty than we began. A+ night out, if you ask me, featuring two artists that are ones to watch for sure.
