It speaks volumes when an album outside the traditional pop genre is embraced on a global scale—especially when much of its audience doesn’t even understand the language of the lyrics. That is exactly what Rosalía has achieved with LUX. It stands as one of the most beautifully crafted albums of the year.
I’m personally not drawn to mainstream music that dominates radio rotations, yet Rosalía’s latest album has been on constant repeat in my home, my car, and through my earbuds. I simply can’t get tired of it. And for me—particularly as a career music blogger and journalist (or, as Gen Z now calls it, a “music curator”)—when an album resonates this deeply without relying on a manufactured, algorithm-driven pop formula (aka pop factory), it says everything.
