This week in Los Angeles, catch indie shows with Shannona Shaw, Monster Rally, Austra, Ruby Red, Locust, and more. If you’re looking for a bigger concert experience, we highly recommend Not For Radio (Maria of the Marias) at the United Theater on Broadway and Fuzz at The Bellwether (another band with Ty Segall). Plenty of shows in L.A. this week, take your pick below. As always, our shows are handpicked by our editor and team of concert photographers and music journalists based on our likes, who we’ve covered in the past, and shows we’ve already experienced. For more concerts this January, see our best show of the month column.
1/20 In Dreams: A Musical Tribute to David Lynch at Lodge Room
Shannon Shaw at Alex’s Bar — Jan. 21-22
We LOVE Shannon Shaw. Best known as the frontwoman of Shannon and the Clams, Shaw brings a soulful mix of garage rock, R&B, and doo-wop influences. Whether you’re one to stand and sway, or cut a rug in your blue suede shoes, this show will give you all that and then some. You’ll have to drive out to the LBC (not L.A. proper), but it will be worth it. Get Tickets.
