Coinciding with the Halloween season, this weekโs batch of 3 new songs embrace the cooler air and dark nights through their respective atmospheres. Utilizing synths and brooding vocals, all three artists find ways to express themselves through electronic production.

Mareux โCadillac Casketโ
As the first solo release of 2026, Mareux is teasing the next chapter of his career with the first single from his next album, โCadillac Casket.โ
The track captures what Mareux experimented with on last yearโs Nonstop Romance, whether it be the pulsating nighttime electro-punk or the somber synth ballads. After composing โCadillac Casketโ on the piano, Mareux later passed the single off to Elliott Kozel (Rosalรญa, Eartheater), who gave it the sheen and urgency heard in the production.
In keeping with the pocket of music that Mareux has become comfortable operating within, โCadillac Casketโ blends romantic songwriting with hypnotic synthpop. At the same time, heโs far more experimental in how everything comes together, swirling the production and his distorted vocals together like a black-and-white spiral.
While โThe Perfect Girlโ would’ve likely kept Mareux afloat due to how uber-popular that breakout single is, his willingness to keep pushing forward and consistently collaborate with others is a sign of how he’s not looking to stop anytime soon.

She Wants Revenge โBLACK WAX/OUR LOVEโ
โTear You Apartโ is a timeless October classic, but She Wants Revenge proves they still got it on their new single, โBLACK WAX/OUR LOVE,โ off their first album in 15 years, The Loved, out Feb. 12, 2027. While the duo, led by Justin Warfield and Adam Bravin, have never left the spotlight, they spent the last few years touring and reminding crowds what made their self-titled debut so special.
But they’re back, combining musings on life’s complexity with their familiar darkwave sound. โThereโs a certain darkness in โBlack Wax,โ but thereโs also an energy and a sense of defiance that we love,โ said Bravin. โIt feels like a natural evolution of what SWR has always been about, without trying to recreate something weโve already done.โ
โBLACK WAXโ feels like She Wants Revenge never went on hiatus. From the brooding guitar to the siren sound, itโs got everything youโd expect from the band. And when Warfieldโs familiar vocals come into play, itโs a blast from the past given more propulsion by the unapologetic post-punk energy.
It may have been 15 years, but She Wants Revenge hasnโt lost their touch.

Internet Girl โHIGH AS HEAVENโ
South Africa’s trio Internet Girl is as amped up as can be ahead of their debut album, YES, out Nov. 13 via Pack, with โHIGH AS HEAVEN.โ As you can imagine with an album title that is loud and simple, โHIGH AS HEAVENโ is unrelenting in its barrage of elements ranging from abrasive synths to a heavy bass weighing like an elephant.
Despite the album’s title, the single actually came about at a time of uncertainty for the trio. But while experimenting with different distorted sounds, the group knew they struck gold and engineered the track for sweaty live shows.
Thatโs evident based on how โHIGH AS HEAVENโ announces itself with a piercing synth sounding more like a nuclear alarm than an instrument. From there, the distorted production, best described as screamo vocals processed through digital filters, acting as the cushion for even more chaotic rapping.
โHIGH AS HEAVEN,โ with all its electronic influences and intense first half, later transitions into a slower yet still relentless rhythm, giving the single even more punch than it had. Whether listening alone or with others, itโs easy to imagine how a live crowd will get rowdy within seconds of listening to โHIGH AS HEAVEN.โ
