Grammy-winning indie-rock outfit Café Tacvba has been making music together for over three decades, traveling worldwide to become one of Mexico’s most celebrated bands. From the moment the quartet released their freewheeling self-titled debut they’ve sought to redefine themselves with every record as the avant-garde ambassadors of Latin American music. Both its traditional folkloric and more modern permutations. Their latest album Jei Beibi has only cemented their permanent relevance as a touchstone of Mexican rock and cumbia, earning them a Latin Grammy for Best Alternative Album to boot.

Given the international love for Café Tacvba, it’s something of a lucky break that they will be spending not just one but two nights at the Hollywood Bowl. It would be a legendary performance enough if it was just the quartet up there together — Rubén Albarrán, Emmanuel del Real, Enrique Rangel, and Joselo Rangel jamming out together on that massive stage.

But they’ll also be joined by Gustavo Dudamel and the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Supported by this superb orchestra led by such a phenomenal conductor, the band’s songs will be imbued with aural emotion, unlike any other performance they’ve put on in the past. It will indeed be a one-of-a-kind experience made all the more magical by the spectacle of its atmosphere and vistas.
