Los Angeles-based artist Tash has shared another new song with the release of the soulfully introspective “It’s Really Not That Deep.” It’s the fourth single she’s shared this year and marks her continued exploration of the sublime intersections of R&B and pop that her music inhabits. Since she started releasing music back in 2017 she’s unveiled an abundance of stand-alone tracks that have established her as a singer/songwriter of exceptional intimacy.

“It’s Really Not That Deep” pulses with a melodic buoyancy that Tash leverages when facing down the frustration of watching life spiral out of her control. Guided by a meandering mix of elastic beats and delicately glowing guitars, the song attempts to make sense of the ebb and flow of life’s moments. Syncing her melodious vocals and pensive lyricism to the track’s springy rhythms.

“I definitely struggle with my mental health and I can get very low sometimes, and it’s hard for me to snap out of it,” Tash explained. “All of my songs come from a personal place, and you can definitely hear that in the lyrics of this one.” Wavering between a lulling melancholy and earnest resilience, “It’s Really Not That Deep” serves as a heartfelt reminder that every cresting wave of despair eventually subsides.

Since the release of her debut Tash, Vol. 2 the Australian-born artist has been honing down an alluring melding of intimately-minded pop. One that overflows with lush instrumentals and varying levels of sonic kineticism, ranging from spaciously orchestrated alt-R&B to more ebullient expressions. The last two years have seen Tash reintroducing herself within this new niche she’s carved out for herself.

If you found yourself tenderly enamored by “It’s Really Not That Deep,” then you’ll also want to check out some of her other recent singles. She confers a budding sensuality to the winding melodies of “Dopamine,” while on tracks like “787” and “For the First Time” she brings a vivacious pop effervescence to her reflections on love and life.
