With a self-assured groove, “DIVA” off of Love Letters / رسائل حب from Palestinian singer-songwriter Saint Levant finds the perfect balance between relaxed and exhilarated thanks to some top-notch production. True to the single’s title, Levant finds himself enchanted with a “golden diva,” thinking to himself, “Will she take time to be my lady?” As he continues to wrestle with those thoughts in his mind––going between English and Arabic––the shimmering guitar over steady drum patterns exemplify the sort of late-night dance you would see on an especially tropical island.
The addition of what sounds to be a windy synth during the chorus adds to the euphoria, making for a song focused on making listeners dance as it is on sounding crisp to the core. By the second half, everything comes together, ranging from Levant’s murmured voice to every instrument coming into play, pulling off a perfect harmony.
