It’s time to say goodbye to the beloved Hollywood Bowl summer season, but first, let’s go out with a bang! Still going strong after an acclaimed career spanning decades, with a new project called Fotografías, Rubén Blades is coming to the Hollywood Bowl with Robert Delgado Big Band and singer-songwriter Silvana Estrada on Wednesday, Sept. 30. Grimy Goods has a couple of pairs of tickets to gift to two lucky fans.
Few artists have shaped the sound and global reach of salsa quite like Panama’s Rubén Blades. Throughout his career, he’s helped expand the genre beyond its many cultural roots, weaving in influences from rock, jazz, and other Latin American sounds. Joining him for a performance of Fotografías is Roberto Delgado & Orquesta, the longtime backing band whose musicianship has also established them as a formidable salsa orchestra in their own right.
Sharing the bill is Mexican singer-songwriter Silvana Estrada, whose distinctive voice and emotionally rich songwriting have made her a standout in contemporary Latin American music. Los Angeles audiences may remember her performance at Walt Disney Concert Hall, while her music has a way of casting a spell of enchantment and softness.
Together, these two artists bring distinct musical traditions and perspectives to one bill, making this a show worth catching. Plus, it’s the final show of the season at the Bowl!
