After a sold-out residency at intimate venues throughout Los Angeles and New York, Elly Jackson of La Roux is gearing up to release her fourth studio album. The beloved singer/songwriter, musician, and producer — La Roux, revered for her iconic self-titled debut and colorful synth pop sound, shares she has completed her 10-track new album and it’s ready to drop. The new offering follows La Roux’s 2020 release, Supervision, which never got a chance to tour due the COVID pandemic that shortly followed. While no release date or title has been shared for the new album, Elly has revealed she produced, composed and wrote the entirety of it while in her home of the UK, with the album receiving its final touches in the U.S.

“So every instrument that you hear on the record, I played and wrote,” shared Elly in our interview. “So there’s nothing on the record that I didn’t play.”

With the exception of two bass parts that were played by somebody else (however, Elly wrote them) and two parts at the end of the record, Elly wrote and played it all.

“Every beat, every kick drum, every high hat, every snare, every synth part, every bass part, I played and wrote it.”

In our Grimy Goods TV interview, Elly Jackson discusses her hiatus and return to the stage and why it was important to launch her intimate residency shows in Los Angeles. We dive into her album’s R&B-leaning sound, her decade long hiatus, quitting smoking weed, upcoming tour, and much more.
