Singer-songwriter and producer Kate Brunotts is three for three with her newest single, “BRIEFCASE!”
As the third single of what’s shaping up to be a potential project on the horizon, the LA-based singer-songwriter has been keeping busy this year. Just in March, she had her first LA show of her career, the latest in a list of accomplishments that have been mounting up since her debut in 2022.
“BRIEFCASE!” is unlike what listeners might expect from Brunotts, continuing a trend that started with recent singles such as “FIMFM” and “Scorch the Road.” Inspired by bloghouse artists, including but not limited to The Hellp, the glitchy rhythm and strut-ready beat is the sort of combination that makes for an infectious track.
While there are elements of her songwriting from 2022’s WOMB, the punchy attitude to “BRIEFCASE!” is a breath of new air that cements Brunotts’ dynamism as a singer-songwriter. And although the song only comes in at a little over two minutes, the decision to make time for a build-up goes to show what Brunotts can do with so little.
Curiously, the song dropped alongside an artist named KATTLE. What’s most likely an alter ego of sorts for Brunotts seems to point in the direction of where she might be heading with future music. Considering “BRIEFCASE!” tastefully takes its inspirations and pushes her into new territory, there’s a lot to look forward to.
