The Dresden Dolls are headed to The United Theater on Broadway on Saturday, Oct. 3 to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of their of their beloved 2006 album, Yes, Virginia… Lucky for you, Grimy Goods has a pair of tickets to give away courtesy of the fine folks at The United Theater on Broadway (formerly The Theatre at Ace).
In celebration of their album, singer-songwriter Amanda Palmer and drummer/multi-instrumentalist Brian Viglione have released a newly re-recorded 20th anniversary album titled Yes, Virginia…(Tailor’s Version). Much like Taylor Swift took back ownership of her original recordings, The Dresden Dolls have done the same — their new album title nods directly to that parallel. The re-recording became possible after the band’s two-decade deal with Roadrunner Records came to an end, finally freeing them to revisit and reclaim the albums they first released under that label.
So, there’s a lot to celebrate at their upcoming show at The United Theater on Broadway. If you’ve never experienced a show at this gorgeous, historic venue, here’s your chance. And what better band to perform at the famed former movie palace co-founded by Charlie Chaplin than The Dresden Dolls? The duo’s theatrics and punk cabaret couldn’t be more perfect for such a venue.
