Graceful, endearing, and beautiful are just a few words to describe Laura Mvula‘s show this past Tuesday at the El Rey Theatre. Since the very first moment, the British songbird has captivated crowds with her amazing voice and charm. At her El Rey show, her personal life stories created such rich lyrics that they mesmerized the crowd to inevitably become lifetime fans. Major props to Laura for transitioning from her remarkable song “Is There Anybody Out There” to Bob Marley’s “One Love,” which got the entire theatre engaged in one voice. Later in the evening, Laura magically transported us with her sweet yet energetic performance inside of her song “Green Garden” and close to the end of the show, we got to feel her personal distance with her father through her emotive track, “Father, Father”.

Oh Laura, you made the crowd cry! The title of her new album Sing to the Moon fits perfect with her stage presence and emotion. We can’t wait to feel her words again!
