Just a few week’s ago, Echo Park-based Corners released their stunning nine-track full-length record, Maxed Out on Distractions. Rich in haunting synths with the dark sounds of the 80s post-punk era, these good ole East Side boys have done well for themselves with this new record. Released on October 7 via vinyl and CD via Lolipop Records, and co-released on cassette via Lolipop and Burger Records — the album arrived at a perfect time during the Halloween season. Some songs such as the intense title track would make a perfect compliment to a Tim Burton flick, while tripped out songs like “On The Run” sound as though they were created in a psychedelic witch den; quite appropriate for Tarantino’s next flick. The entire album as whole is a sensational listen.
Corners just release the official video for the album’s closing track, “The Spaceship.” One of the best songs on the album, it exudes an enigmatic sense of urgency that you can feel the moment the song commences. Maybe that why the video directed by David Gantz and Theo Cohn, comes off a bit mysterious and twisted. Two hot guys, one redheaded babe, and a motorcycle — check out Corners’ new video for yourself below.
Corners are wrapping up a mini tour and are set to perform at the new Regent Theater in Downtown Los Angeles as part of the Downtown Festival featuring Connan Mockasin. Get tickets.
