It’s quite hard to believe when you realize Tegan and Sara‘s “So Jealous” album is nearly 10 years old. The indie rock done good sisters are commemorating it with a 10th anniversary deluxe edition of the album to be released on Dec. 23, called So Jealous X.

The deluxe album will include additional material like remixes, demos, and covers, like The White Stripes doing a version of one of Tegan and Sara’s early breakout hits “Walking With a Ghost”. It’s been a crazy year for the two as they opened up for Katy Perry on her stadium tour (including dates at STAPLES Center) and played the Hollywood Palladium just recently.

As part of the announcement, Tegan and Sara have shared one of the demos from the upcoming re-release, an unreleased song “When I Get Up” (listen to it below). A stripped down B-side that’s much more bare-bones than their more recent synth-heavy and fuller sound, this was always one of my favorites ever since hearing a live version off their Bridge School EP. It’s a song that has never otherwise been available, and though light on sound, it’s heavy on sentiment as it seems to have to do with the difficulty of maintaining a relationship while on the road as an artist trying to make it.

“Because So Jealous changed the course of our sound, our career and most importantly our lives, we didn’t want to just re-release the record,” said the sisters via a press release.

“Instead we wanted to re-ignite the fire that inspired us to make the record in the first place and hopefully allow it to reach a whole new audience.”

The box set also comes with a hardcover booklet with photos and personal recollections from the band and others.
