Blond Treehorn Thug:
Your name’s Lebowski, Lebowski. Your wife is Bunny.
The Dude:
My… my wi-, my wife, Bunny? Do you see a wedding ring on my finger? Does this place look like I’m f***ing married? The toilet seat’s up, man!
Ha! “She’s not my special lady, she’s my fucking lady friend. I’m just helping her conceive, man!”
“I’d love it if you came and gave me notes.”
I love the song “Dead Flowers”…in the context of this movie and just in general!
Mr. Treehorn treats objects like women, man!
No, you’re not wrong Walter, you’re just an asshole.
Big Lebowski: Are you employed, sir?
Dude: Employed?
Big Lebowski: You don’t go out looking for a job dressed like that. On a weekday?
Dude: Is this a… what day is this?
Townes Van Zandt, “Dead Flowers” mos def!
Nihilist: Ve vant ze money, Lebowsky.
Hotel California – Gipsy Kings …just a killer cover, done in a unique way.
I got a hankering for that pizza now too..
Music on White Russian Vinyl, and Pizza. Heck yeah, I’m in. It would really tie the room together.
My fav line…”The Dude abides. I don’t know about you, but I take comfort in that. It’s good knowing he’s out there, the Dude, takin’ ‘er easy for all us sinners.” –The Stranger
“Also, Dude, ‘Chinaman’ is not the preferred nomenclature. Asian American, please.”
My first instinct was to say “The Man in Me” because that song immediately brings back memories of that amazing opening title sequence in the bowling alley. But then I remembered that this soundtrack introduced the Gipsy Kings’ cover of “Hotel California” to the world, and that’s a damn fine song. So I’d have to say that’s my favorite song from this soundtrack.
When I moved out to LA many year ago I went bowling at Hollywood Star Lanes, where they filmed the bowling alley interiors (it’s gone now). It was open 24 hours a day, such a great place. Ordering a beer at the same bar where The Dude and The Stranger talked… well, it’s up on my list of greatest LA experiences.
The Dude: It’s like what Lenin said… you look for the person who will benefit, and, uh, uh…
Donny: I am the walrus.
The Dude: You know what I’m trying to say…
Donny: I am the walrus.
Walter Sobchak: That fucking bitch…
The Dude: Oh yeah!
Donny: I am the walrus.
Walter Sobchak: Shut the fuck up, Donny! V.I. Lenin. Vladimir Ilyich Ulyanov!
Donny: What the fuck is he talking about, Dude?
“Shut the fuck up, Donnie!”
“You want a toe? I can get you a toe, believe me. There are ways, Dude. You don’t wanna know about it, believe me.”
And my favorite track is Kenny Rogers- Just Dropped In. I used this in a little movie I made with my friends when we were 16 years old. It was a Vietnam war scene and it was pretty awesome; I love this song and the whole soundtrack so much!
“SHUT THE FUCK UP DONNY!”
(btw, this is an impossible movie to pick a fave quote from. It is full of gems!!) can i just post the screenplay here?)
“Yeah, well, you know, that’s just like your, opinion, man.”
I wanna win that pizza (and that vinyl) – but come on, Bacon Cheeseburger pie?!!
“Man In Me” is my favorite track. And let’s see. How does one pick a favorite line from Lebowski?? Well honestly, ANYTIME I do something stupid or something gets messed up (even if I’m by myself), I’ll say —
“YOU SEE WHAT HAPPENS, LARRY?!”
So probably that.
please let me win this
the big lebowski made me reevaluate my opinion of kenny rodgers – it’s positive now.
also:
“i got a rash, man”
My favorite line is when he says “Nobody calls me Lebowski. You got the wrong guy. I’m the Dude, man.”
Wouldn’t hold out much hope for the tape deck though.
Or the Creedence.
Favorite Line:
Police Officer: Do I make myself clear?
Dude: I’m sorry, I wasn’t listening.
Police Officer throws mug at Dude’s face
Dude: OW, FUCKING FASCIST!
don’t be fatuous, jeffrey
