Last week the Fonda Theatre had a sold out show with an attentive crowd eager to experience the electronic bliss of Moderat. But before Moderat took the stage, fans were treated to a rare performance by Telefon Tel Aviv.
Opening act Joshua Eustis, the now sole member of the duo Telefon Tel Aviv set up the night with liquid electronic jazz vibes in a stunning hypnotic tone. This was his second Los Angeles gig since his return to the stage this past January at The Regent. Telefon Tel Aviv’s introspective stance and experimental sounds gave a mysterious touch to his performance.
Headlining the evening was Moderat. Moderat is the union of electronic heavyweights Modeselektor and Apparat. When hitting the stage, the fusion of their individual sounds was subtle, as if they had been performing together for a lifetime. Their joint effort had fans lost in their eclectic sounds and swaying to the beats.
Moderat are currently on tour promoting their album III. You can order the album here.
