The music in Los Angeles feels like summer and the rain cannot stop it. The Roxy was adorned by Indian flavors with Raja Kumari’s empowering performance blending Eastern culture and Hip Hop. She has done collaborations with Timbaland, Gwen Steffani and more, in addition to being nominated for a Grammy.
Kumari was born in Claremont, California and although she is a full on American girl, her music is clearly influenced by her Indian background with a California twist. Fans sang to her tenacious songs while her dancers also mixed traditional Indian dance with contemporary moves. Although there were technical difficulties, Kumari stepped up with a fantastic a cappella, an epic safe that only a pro with a real and strong voice could pull.
Raja Kumari’s next Los Angeles gig is on Feb. 26 at The Troubadour in West Hollywood. Trust, it’s not to be missed.
