Rituals of Mine

Fierce electronic duo Rituals Of Mine just released a video for their trip-hop jam ‘Burst:’ an eerie, empowering track that reconciles with past traumas. The band, comprised of vocalist Terra Lopez and drummer Adam Pierce, also announced that their EP “Sleeper Hold” will be out on October 4th on Carpark Records. The much anticipated collection comes right at the tail end of their North American tour, beginning August 31st through November 15th. Check the list below for cities and dates!

Everything about Rituals of Mine is intentional, from their introspective lyrics to their electric shows and impassioned videos. Co-directed by Kris Esfandiari and Colette Levesque, ‘Burst’ features Lopez on a team with a younger version of herself in a game of basketball. Haunting visuals strobe along with the soft spoken, voltaic track as Lopez moves in a cathartic dance down the court. The music video was created by a majority queer, women, and trans crew and serves as a direct metaphor for defeating the obstacles as a queer woman of color in the industry.

“This new material is very direct and focused on what I want to express with things I’ve held in for so long,” Lopez says. “It’s finally me addressing all of that trauma because I finally had the space to do so.”

Rituals of Mine’s forthcoming EP “Sleeper Hold” promises to be their most cathartic endeavor to date. Lopez began writing the songs during one of the most traumatic moments of her life, when, over the span of six months, both her father and best friend passed away. She flew from California to Florida to work with her longtime collaborator, Wes Jones, in an intimate studio space, with room for only self-reflection and creation.
