Temples share riveting new single “You’re Either On Something” from upcoming album Hot Motion

In anticipation of their newest album being slated for release next month, Temples have shared yet another single from the record this time in the form of the sublimely sizzling “You’re Either On Something.” Offered in the band’s signature blend of neo-psychedelia rock, lead singer James Bagshaw’s piercing croons are as ethereal as ever as they cut through wall after wall of blistering guitar and synth echoes. Of course it wouldn’t be a Temples song without a sizzling medley and “You’re Either On Something” doesn’t disappoint, winding in mesmerizing lucidity alongside Bagshaw’s wails—before emerging right smack on top of a seriously riveting guitar solo that just cascades down like liquid lightning.

The single also follows previous release “Hot Motion,” and when viewed side by side it’s clear that Temples aren’t looking to stick entirely to what’s worked in the past—the band is modifying their sound—and with their new album described as having a David Lynch undertone—we can’t wait.

“I’m really proud of “You’re Either On Something’ lyrically because I feel deeply connected with the words – they’re so truthful,” Bagshaw says of the track. “On that track, I can hear influences of stuff that I listened to when I was growing up. There’s almost a nostalgia to that track, even though it’s very forward-looking.”
