Fell Runner

Los Angeles rock quartet Fell Runner have shared the video for their song “Dog Inside a Car,” the off-kilter, guitar chill track off their latest album Talking released earlier this summer. Filmed in the hills near Palmdale and Mt. Emma, CA by Enersto Prieto and directed/edited by Marcus Högsta (Fell Runner bassist), the film hones in on the song’s whimsical metaphor–of a humankind’s understanding of the vastness of the universe being similar to that of a dog’s to car.

Switch-footing between shots of the band playing to an open expanse of desert hills and the titular dog–Sammy, owned by a friend of the band–riding around the arid landscape in a classic car, the film meanders alongside in sublime delight with the song’s questions about engines and cars. The end of the film tackles some of the more cosmic and cerebral ideas, ending with just the band playing in the dark, illuminated by car headlights as Ariana Daub–a contemporary dancer from L.A.–dances as a silhouette in the light.
