Soccer Mommy has shared the first song from her upcoming album color theory in the form of her new single “circle the drain.” A candid attempt to navigate her strained pubescence, 22-year-old Sophie Allison has made a name for herself narrating in such quaint, melancholic clarity the changes in her life. The music video for the track–directed by Atiba Jefferson and shot in an abandoned waterpark in Palm Springs with pro-skateboarders Sean Malto, Jake Anderson, Curren Caples, and Nicole Hause–effuses all the aches and pains of youthful angst and the growing pains that come with its introspection.

Best LA Songs of the month

Soccer Mommy’s sophomore attempt, color theory will seek to confront all the things Allison has sought to reflect on in recent years, from mental illness to familial strife. Divided into three thematic sections–blue, yellow, gray–to represent a poignant state of emotion Allison was in at the time of its creation.

Soccer Mommy will be going on tour this spring, making a stop at the Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles on April 30. color theory is out February 28 via Loma Vista, pre-order it here. Visit her website, Facebook, and Instagram to stay updated on new releases and tour announcements.
