Anonymous trio BRÅVES have teamed-up with singer/songwriter Lilli Wilder on their new song “Mean Girls,” finding an enigmatic and emotional sweet-spot thanks to the group’s sultry atmospherics and the 21-year-old’s tender vocals. While BRÅVES remain elusive music makers to the public, the trio have written/performed with artists like Walk The Moon, P!NK, Coldplay, and Fitz and The Tantrums, as well as created several viral videos heralded by Nowness, and have been featured in a six-page spread in Vogue Italia.
Tracking all the bittersweet and intoxicating desires that come with wanting all the wrong people, the song lilts along the BRÅVES build soundscape of acoustic hums and echoed instrumentation. But it’s Wilder that ties the entirety of the piece together, her wavering, piercing croons cutting through the thick heartache at its core.
“‘Mean Girls’ is a song about a much younger me who didn’t know how to fall in love with the right person,” Wilder explains. “I could not be more proud of how authentically it speaks to the complexities of how I was feeling at the time. BRÅVES gave this song life and I hope you love it as much as we do.”
