Moses Sumney has announced the release date of the first part of their new album græ with the unveiling of another single off it, “Cut Me.” The new track embodies much of the same, insatiable wonder that gleams off many of their songs, basking in the improvised nature of their gospel-sized ballads; swirling and darting between grandiose, choir-backed harmonies and a sharp, jazzy lyricism throughout. And all the while Sumney maintains their pervasive, almost spiritual need to rebel against any sense of restrictive definition or binary in either their music–and especially themselves.
The first half of Moses Sumney’s græ is out this month, but the final part won’t be released until May, meaning Sumney’s revolutionary installation alongside Amazon Music at the Bootleg Theatre will be the best way to experience Sumney’s album before it’s out.
Moses Sumney will also be hosting a residency and installation at the Bootleg Theatre from February 13 through March 4 from 12 – 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Their new album græ is out fully on May 15 via JAGJAGUWAR, pre-order it here. Visit Moses Sumney’s website, Facebook, and Instagram to stay updated on new releases and tour announcements.
