Dream-pop with a little twang; Hazel English, the Australian born, L.A.-based artist has shared another single off her forthcoming album. “Combat” floats atop a swirling, glistening sea of beautiful instrumentals as the lyrics wash over you like waves along the shore. To celebrate the new album, Hazel English will perform in Los Angeles at The Echo on June 22. Additional Hazel English tour dates listed below.

English’s new song is a great example of her ability as a musician and songwriter. In “Combat,” English tells of a tumultuous relationship and how battles that wage on can lead to an end where no one wins. The dreamy atmosphere that permeates through the song thanks to the instrumentals is counterweighted by the heavy lyrics.

“”Combat” is about the push and pull of two people dealing with conflict in a relationship,” English said. “It’s about how sometimes winning an argument can actually mean losing the real battle – maintaining intimacy with a partner.”

This is the second single from English this year. Along with the single she released last year, “Combat” preludes her debut album ‘Wake Up!,’ set to drop April 24 via Polyvinyl Records Co. / Marathon Artists. The album was produced by Justin Raisen in Los Angeles n (Angel Olsen, Charli XCX) and Ben H. Allen (Animal Collective, Glass Animals) in Atlanta. English is very excited to debut her work, a collection of songs she feels is very poignant in today’s society.

“Sometimes I feel like we’re just sleepwalking through our lives,” English noted, hoping that ‘Wake UP!’ helps “make people become more aware and mindful.

“I hope I can inspire others to also search for their inner truths and find their own inner strength in the process,” English says. “I wanted to create something really dynamic, and kinda wild.”

Hazel English will perform at The Echo in Los Angeles on Monday, June 22. You can grab tickets here. Tickets go on sale Friday, March 13.
