Mykki Blanco announces some big news. The radiant rapper plans to put out a new mini-album, Broken Hearts & Beauty Sleep via Transgressive Records on June 18. Off that nine-track record is their smooth single “Love Me” which follows the release of “Free Ride.” The seductively smoky song takes the many moving parts that make up the complexity of love and combines them into one potent concoction. Highlighting hypnotic beats and warm, fuzzy vocals, it is easy to get wrapped up in this lush offering. Blanco shares, “‘Love Me’ is essentially about so many forms of love, patience, trust, time. It is about the potion that is created when you sift through the ingredients that create ‘love’, the alchemy we as human beings take part in to convey these feelings deep inside of us.” Featuring Jamila Woods and Blanco’s brother Jay Cue, the two add an intoxicating element to the tune that lifts it to a whole other level.
The moniker ‘Mykki Blanco’ was created over a decade ago. It began as a video art project depicting a teenage female character (inspired by Lil Kim’s ‘Kimmy Blanco’ alter ego) posting vlogs and raps online to now a masterful artist discovering their genuine self. Experimenting with club and trap sounds, the music demolishes genre barriers creating a highly unique quality. With Broken Hearts & Beauty Sleep the talent has unlocked a mystical creativity that is truly limitless.
