Celebrating the release of their “Killer Daisies” single release, Young Winona put on an vibrant performance last night at El Cid. Led by vocalist Cassie Gaffaney, the LA-based band (by-way-of New Zealand) rounds out with bandmate/husband Nick Gaffaney (drummer, multi-instrumentalist and one half of power rock duo, Cairo Knife Fight) and fellow expat Geoff Maddock on bass (who most New Zealanders will know as the brainchild behind NZ’s beloved rock act, Goldenhorse). The LA transplants do not disappoint. Young Winona’s “Killer Daisies” is streaming everywhere. Go check them out!

Also on the evening’s bill, presented by In Your Pocket, were Jagged Baptist Club and Not A Friend. The two LA acts definitely brought the weird raucous. With Not A Friend’s electronic thrash, and Jagged Baptist’s Club’s relentless post-punk madness, it was a wild night that surely left many ears ringing. The crowd was letting out all those pandemic woes, hands in the air as strobes and lighting danced to the manic yells of Jagged Baptist Club’s “Chop x8.” Good times indeed. We hope to catch all 3 bands live once again.
