Velvet Starlings get the Lego treatment on the video for raucous new single "She Said"

L.A.’s Velvet Starlings have shared a new single from their forthcoming new album Technicolor Shakedown with the release of a video for the raucous and fuzzy “She Said.” A blend of the Starling’s love for ’60s Doors-style organ riffs and the chaotic bliss of “beach fuzz”garage rock, the entire song is a breathless run from start to finish that catches alight and burns with an almost feral intensity. Between the blistering jangle of guitars and frontman Christian Gisborne’s angsty howls, “She Said” rollicks anxiously to the inflammatory passions of instantaneous romance and desire.

The video for the new song, directed by Gisborne, sees the band get the Lego treatment as they perform to a crowd of the stop-motion moving figurines. By the time the song is spinning off its rails, the video turns into a blurry, Lego-technicolor wall of blurry shapes that dip and dive, spiraling with every dizzying hook. “She Said” also follows the release of previous single “Back Of The Train” and title-track “Technicolor Shakedown,” and the trio of singles promise a purely rock-n-roll ethos to be at the center of their fervent new album.

“It tells a tale of instant attraction,” Gisborne said of the new single. “Coupled with the excitement, energy, and adrenaline of ‘cutting a rug’ on the sweaty dance floor of a California house party going till dawn and watching the sun coming up across the bay.”

The Velvet Starling’s new album Technicolor Shakedown is out November 9. The band will be on tour this fall with dates at The Observatory in Santa Ana on October 1 supporting The Grinns and another at Zebulon in Los Angeles on November 9 supporting Josie Cotton.
