We’ve been waiting for Serena Isioma to perform in Los Angeles for quite some time, and last night, Angelenos finally got to see the beloved Chicago musician take the stage at The Echo. With an infectious smile and magnetic energy, the first-generation Nigerian-American brought the party as party of their ‘Dreamer’s Race to The Sunsets’ tour. Pressing pieces of rock and lo-fi into the grooves of R&B and hip-hop — and we mean really smoothing them in — Isioma has found a niche all their own. Isioma’s live performance was everything we expected and then some! Performing songs off their 2020 EP release, The Leon Sun Sets and new singles like “Voulez-Vous Me To…” and “Really, Really” — the house was delightfully lit!
