Sasami Releases Intense New Dance Track “Say It”

Jumping into 2022 with no holds barred, Los Angeles based artist Sasami has dropped another new single off her upcoming album, Squeeze, due out February 25 via Domino. The new track, “Say It,” is a hypnotically intense industrial lament about feeling out of step and unable to communicate properly. With pungent sentiments of pain, anger, sensitivity, rage and resolve — all set ablaze by a molten hot rhythm, the single pierces through with deadly accuracy and also comes with a wickedly simple, but fiery, animated visual.

Ebbing between soft interludes and hardcore industrial instrumentals, Sasami arranges a colorful bouquet of sound in “Say It,” where hellish bursts of electronic noise sits alongside Sasami’s ethereal vocals, each in vivid contrast of each other; the juxtaposition of which captures a palpable anxiety. Frustrated and tired, Sasami’s lyrics demand for her adversary to say what is on their mind.

“‘Say It’ is a rage anthem dance track about spinning out because someone isn’t communicating with you,” says Sasami. “I feel like when I hear the song I see a hot femme with a mystical flamethrower engulfed in emotional blue flames throwing elbows alone in an industrial dance club in outer space.”

Sasami’s upcoming new album, Squeeze, is available for pre-order now. Like “Say It” and her previously released single “Skin a Rat,” Squeeze is full of rich contrast both in sound and emotion. In addition to new music, Sasami will also be on tour this year with a headlining stint as well as in support of Haim (North America) and for Mitski (EU/UK) later this spring/summer. Catch Sasami in Los Angeles on April 13 at the Teragram Ballroom for her hometown headlining show. More tour dates below.
