Fana Hues releases new album ‘flora + fana’ — a radiant collection of soul-cultivating songs

Fana Hues shares lush second album "flora + fana" and new video for "BAD bad"

Two years after the release of her debut album, Fana Hues is back with the soul-cultivating flora + fana. With the album’s release, the singer has also shared a video for the sultry and spacey slow-burner “BAD bad,” continuing her penchant for giving her songs inspiring visual accompaniments. Directed by Phillip Youmans the video for “BAD bad” finds Hues and her partner in a state of intimacy as they lounge around their gorgeous Los Angeles home. Hues is then joined by a rush of dancers similarly dressed as her in white silk gowns and the group giving a gracefully breathless choreographed dance right there in her living room.

flora + fana itself is a radiant collection that sees Hues looking inward to tend her own inner gardens. “I found myself / In the bottom of this moscato,” she sings against warm strums on album opener “moscato.” Whether she’s wrestling with heartbreak as on pattering “pieces” or dreamy and uplifting as with “wild horses,” the entirety of flora + fana is a lush, deeply melodic ecosystem. One in which Hues seems equally content in reveling in as sharing it with her listeners. It’s the kind of album you put on to either supplement or coax some beauty into your mood, but without a doubt it’s one meant for the sunlight. If there’s one thing flora + fana advocates for it’s the need for some guiding radiance — as far as music goes, the album is just that.

flora + fana represents my world and everything it encompasses, and right now, that’s growth, love, heartaches, and breaks,” Hues said of the album. “It’s also representative of how I cope with the state of the world. No matter what’s happening outside, my ecosystem is flourishing.”

Fana Hues will be going on tour next month in support of Raveena and will be making a stop at the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles on May 28. Visit Fana Hues’ website, Twitter, and Instagram to stay updated on new releases and tour announcements.
