R&B duo They. have definitively ended their two-year hiatus with the release of a new single/video “Blü Moon.” The new track is the first since departing their major label, a slow-burner that emphatically oozes with producer Dante Jones‘ and singer Drew Love‘s devilishly suave personas. “Blü Moon,” with its terse beats and velvety production, sees the duo grappling with the temptation of the most potent kind: attraction.

“Blü Moon” feels like a vintage throwback as well as a reminder that They. are remaking R&B in their image. The music video for the single, directed by Priya Minhas, draws on classic films from the 70s and 80s — as well as R&B videos from the 90s and 00s. The film’s opening shots alone are nostalgia invoking, which see They. pull up in their classic automobile to pick up a beautiful hitchhiker on a desert road.

“Blü Moon” might be their first single in a minute but that doesn’t mean They. don’t have two stellar albums for you to dive into. First came their debut album Nü Religion: Hyena which introduced the world to their genre melding R&B palette that combined everything from grunge to hip-hop. Then in 2020, they dropped their follow-up with The Amanda Tape which led them to collaborate with other icons like Tinashé, Juicy J, and Wale. With the release of “Blü Moon,” you can be sure They. have more hot hits coming in the near future!

“‘Blü Moon’ is hands down the smoothest record we’ve made yet,” Love said of the single. “It works for any environment and feels like the perfect way to introduce the world to the nu era. It was an honor to create it with one of our favorite legendary producers, Troy Taylor.”
