Already about to embark on an expansive North American tour with ODESZA, Sylvan Esso’s Amelia Meath and Nick Sanborn are set to play a pair of free DJ sets in Los Angeles and New York City, featuring special guest and brand new duo GRRL x Made of Oak (to which Sanborn is also a part of). In L.A., Sylvan Esso will be spinning at Gold Diggers on August 4, while their NYC excursion will find them at Pioneer Works on July 27.

These two dates are sprinkled in between a run of 30 plus arena and amphitheater shows with ODESZA later this summer and fall. While there are no Southern California dates with ODESZA, they do have tour dates in Sacramento on Sept. 29 at Heart Health Park and two sold out shows in San Francisco on Sept. 30 and Oct. 1.
In recent months, Sylvan Esso also headlined Electric Forest and Wilco’s Solid Sound Festival, as well as crushing three consecutive nights at their hometown North Carolina baseball stadium.
In addition to their live performances, the duo has released two new singles in the last few months: “Your Reality” that dropped at the end of June and “Sunburn” that dropped in mid-May. While the latter is high paced and prime for dancing, the former plays to the part of Sylvan Esso’s discography that is more atmospheric and sparse, with fizzling pressure points that burst then turn to steam. The music video for “Sunburn” gives listeners a sneak peak of the band’s live performance visuals.
Special guest GRRL x Made of Oak features Sanborn alongside fellow Durham-based DJ and producer James Mapley-Brittle. Ahead of the collaboration’s debut performances at Pioneer Works and Gold Diggers, GRRL x Made of Oak shared “Inertia,” an inaugural, exhilarating track of trance-inducing techno.
