november ultra

November Ultra is back with their first single of the year sharing the tenderhearted lullaby “corazón caramelo,” which comes right on the heels of her announcement of a debut North American tour. This will include what will no doubt be an incredibly intimate performance at The Troubadour in Los Angeles on Jun. 20 that fans will not want to miss. After introducing the world to her radiantly gossamer vocals on her debut album bedroom walls she’s become an international fixation, releasing a handful of stellar singles since and garnering praise from ABBA’s Benny Andersson for her version of “The Winner Takes It All” on TikTok.

In “corazón caramelo,” her luminous words give voice to a search for true love. The magic of November Ultra’s heartwarming ballads emanates perpetually from her vocal prowess. Dazzling when she launches her beaming cries to celestial heights as much as when she lets them freefall into a quivering murmur. It’s the way she can communicate so effortlessly such immense emotion — not just through her openhearted lyricism — but through her vocals as well.

But of course, November Ultra’s affecting songwriting is another reason her music is so captivating. There is a wistful but determined earnestness that echoes from the song’s assertion that she deserves love — though not just any love will do. “Un amor como yo quiero / De los que no hacen sufrir más,” she coos silkily. “Un amor del verdadero / Que sea un sueño muy real.” Tucked within her lilting poetics she emerges a beatific vision of that love, her words aglow with her numinous visions of it.

As if the aural beauty of the single wasn’t enough, November Ultra also performed a live version of the song for a COLORS STUDIOS video. If you’re not familiar with the production, it is a spectacular episode to make your first viewing. Against a brilliantly chromatic and minimalist backdrop, she emerges on piano, offering up her sweet melodious voice to the salmon-colored hues that surround her. There is always some soul-soothing element to these COLORS videos that result from their unguarded intimacy. But adding November Ultra, who already exudes such emotional vulnerability and warmth, makes it even more enchanting.
