Next month The Beach Boys will be performing at the Hollywood Bowl as part of its July Fourth Fireworks Spectacular taking place on Tuesday, July 4th. There will also be shows on Sunday, July 2nd and Monday, July 3rd. Joining them will be the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra conducted by Thomas Wilkins, while a visual accompaniment will feature the venue’s legendary firework show. There are few ways better for a California music lover to spend a summer evening than catching The Beach Boys at the Hollywood Bowl for a night of fireworks and hits. After nearly half a decade together the band has become a crucial element of both west coast music and culture. From the moment that lead singer Mike Love wrote the words “Surfin’” back in 1961, they have remained a redefining intersection of rock and pop that has inspired countless generations of musicians and artists.
With a laundry list of iconic hits — including but absolutely not limited to “Fun, Fun, Fun,” “I Get Around,” “California Girls,” “Help Me Rhonda,” “Barbara Ann,” “Good Vibrations,” and “Wouldn’t It Be Nice” — their set under the stars at the Hollywood Bowl will be one for the ages.
On top of The Beach Boys appearance the July Fourth Fireworks Spectacular will also see the band backed by the phenomenal musicians within the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra under the direction of conductor Thomas Wilkins.
If you’ve never caught a performance at the historic venue that includes fireworks even just a cursory internet search will reveal exactly how breathtaking that sight is. Although obviously, even stunning pictures don’t do it justice. If you’re planning on going somewhere to view fireworks this July 4th, you could not pick a better vista than the view (or soundtrack) from a Hollywood Bowl overflowing with the sound of The Beach Boys.
