I have just the residency for you if you want to spice up your Wednesdays this October. Last night, I headed to The Goldfish in Highland Park to see TwoLips, the multi-faceted LA-based artist bridging the gap between experimental rap and soul and freeing self-expression for night 1 of her Foreshadow Residency.

I had a fantastic time and have already added the following three dates to my calendar. TwoLips knows how to curate a musical night that will leave you wanting more. For the first night of the residency, RM47, 3blackkids, BodaciousThang, and Marlee XX rocked the crowd with a soul blending of sounds that complemented each other like the best compilation album you have ever heard.
RM47 and Marlee XX took us to the dance floor with some Beyonce’s Renaissance Tour, with “Needed U” and “No Practice.” 3blackkids started their set off with a cover of Lapdance by N.E.R.D. before taking us to their garage with their song “Faf.” BodaciousThang affirmed that we are all Bodacious Thangs before getting personal with us with her song “Cocaine Slaves.”
While I have said Twolips‘ is an incredible curator, I want to preface that she is a true performer, bringing energy, skill, and stage presence to the stage. Last night, she was punk rock meets Vanity 6 meets Lauryn Hill, and while those are crazy comparisons, I need you to see her live and in person. I love her “Fuck the patriarch” backing track. It sets the stage for what is to come. She’s just badass.
As Marlee XX would say, “Go Off Sis!”
Make sure you head to The Goldfish on Wednesdays this October and check out TwoLips’ Foreshadow Residency. You won’t be disappointed.
For just $10, you can see some of the brightest rising stars from L.A.’s underground and indie music scenes while treating yourself to delicious wines or cider.
