StudioCanal and Focus Features, the production companies behind the movie, have confirmed that the release date for the UK will be April 12, 2024.

The Amy Winehouse biopic will touch on the start of Winehouse’s career, how she and Blake Fielder-Civil became husband and wife, and tales of the relentless paparazzi. We expect the second part of the trailer to soon reveal more details.

According to a statement from StudioCanal and Focus Features, Back to Black will focus on “Amy’s extraordinary genius, creativity and honesty that infused everything she did. A journey that took her from the craziness and colour of ’90s Camden High Street to global adoration, and back again, Back to Black crashes through the looking glass of celebrity to watch this journey from behind the mirror, to see what Amy saw, to feel what she felt.”

The film Back to Black is directed by the renowned artist and filmmaker Sam Taylor-Johnson, who is a close friend of the late Amy Winehouse. The writer of the movie is Matt Greenhalgh, who has previously worked on acclaimed films like Control, which is based on the life of Joy Division’s Ian Curtis, and Nowhere Boy, which depicts the teenage years of John Lennon.

It’s probably because Amy is my number one gal but I don’t think this casting did her justice. I’ll still watch but she doesn’t have Amy’s attitude.

Jesus Christ she couldn’t look less like her if they cast Zoe Saldana with a prosthetic nose.
