Kitty Ca$h has become the DJ of choice for an ever-growing list of fellow artists, brands, and coveted events around the world. A self-taught disciple of dance music she’s spent the last decade mainly performing and producing/remixing — but that all changed in 2021 with the drop of “Just Fine” (feat. Kiana Ledé) — the lead single from her two-part debut. This year saw her unveil another song from the forthcoming EP, as well as maintaining her status as the go-to party starter for everything from award shows to festivals.

At this point, the life Kitty Ca$h had before she started DJing probably seems more like a dream than a concrete memory. Once she had a day job and now her offices comprise after-hours sets at places like the Guggenheim Museum or LACMA. What started as a fun side gig working the turntables for her friend and rapper Kilo Kish has now snowballed into a full-blown creative endeavor.

Just this year alone she performed at two different Grammy parties — one of them even featuring a guest appearance by one of her collaborators Kaytranada — and the Coachella x Marc Jacobs pre-party. She also split time between Los Angeles and London: making appearances at the iconic Whisky A Go Go and Terminal 27, as well as a groovy show at Flipper’s Roller Boogie Palace.

If that wasn’t enough Kitty Ca$h also joined Thundercat on his recent tour through California. Her opening set at the Greek Theatre featured a ton of unreleased tracks, including a new edit titled “Peggy Got Flights Booked” featuring Peggy Gou. Only a few weeks later she unleashed another banger with the pulsating “Can’t Shut Us Down” (feat. PawPaw Rod), the second song to be shared off her new EP What The Shadow Knows: Handle With Care.

Now she’s gearing up to release its first installment Handle With Care — an eight-track collection that will push the limits of electronic fusion and feature appearances from Kilo Kish, Thundercat, James Fauntleroy, Rico Nasty, and Obongjayar. Kitty Ca$h has spent the last few years teasing the project and hopefully, 2024 is the year fans will finally get to plunge themselves into a sonic wonderland of her indelible design. When it does it’s only going to emblazon the singular truth that she’s proven with every single one of her live sets: a whole new future for dance music is coming with it.
