Royel Otis’ cover of “Murder On The Dancefloor,” originally recorded by Sophie Ellis-Bextor, is now available on all streaming platforms. We’re absolutely loving this sped-up indie rock version, and hope to see it live when the band makes their Los Angeles debut at The Roxy in West Hollywood this May.

As previously reported, the Australian duo Royel Otis recently covered Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s ‘Murder on the Dancefloor’ for Triple J’s Like A Version. Ever since the video came out, we’ve been replaying it endlessly on YouTube. Thankfully, we can now simply hit that repeat button on streaming platforms.

After being featured in the memorable final scene of the film Saltburn, “Murder on the Dancefloor,” originally a 2001 dance number by English singer Sophie Ellis-Bextor, has seen quite the resurgence.

Royel Otis is featured in Grimy Goods’ Forecast for Bands To Watch in 2024. The band caught our attention in 2022 With the release of their catchy single Oysters In My Pocket,” a guitar-driven indie rollicker that begs for a sing-along.

Royel Otis will finally tour the U.S. this Spring in support of their debut album Pratts & Pain, out Feb 16th. The band has a Los Angeles tour stop at The Roxy in West Hollywood on May 16th, along with several festival dates, including BottleRock and Boston Calling.
