Adi Oasis reimagines her Lotus Glow track “Dumpalltheguns” with two new versions, enlisting the soul-riveting voice of Danielle Ponder and DJ/producer Jitwam to create them. This is the latest preview of her forthcoming deluxe version of the album and joins previously shared reworks of “Serena” (feat. Samm Henshaw) with a remix of it by Tentendo. Fans can also see Oasis on tour next month, which includes a stop at El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles on Wednesday, April 3rd.

On “Dumpalltheguns,” as with many of the songs found on Lotus Glow, there is a purposeful effort by Oasis to use the song’s groovily warm melody to penetrate the hearts of those who cling to their guns. Her words on the other hand are deceptively dulcet and cut deep: “Dumb for your guns, wanna kill just for fun,” she sings in the chorus. With ardent exasperation, she deflates all the malignant egotism and senseless disregard for life — especially for Black men — and holds up to their blind eyes the daily violence instigated by social and political infatuation for such weapons.

A musician and lawyer Ponder, like Oasis, uses her art as a guiding light that seeks out pathways that will bring people closer together. Often illuminating overlooked and ugly truths about the treatment of Americans based on their race. Making her a fitting collaborator for Oasis on “Dumpalltheguns,” the pair coming together on International Women’s Day to unite their voices toward earnest and urgent change.

“What kind of land is this I beg / Blood dripping from your hands,” she sings in her smokey voice. “Their futures unrealized / because of your lies / Tell me how you sleep now / you watch as the children get gunned down.”

The Jitwam remix of “Dumpalltheguns” transforms the track into a buoyant and bubbly funk piece. One that ups the resounding pulse of its bass and percussion with a hypnotic effect, adding another irresistible layer of soul to its already immensely suave melody. Throw in an appearance by Jitwam, his alluringly deep voice floating headily atop the song’s honeyed atmosphere, while Oasis’ vocals become these gleaming beams of neo-soul.
