While Kendrick and Drake keep busy creating diss tracks aimed at one another, Macklemore has dropped a fierce new protest song titled “Hind’s Hall.” The track samples the gorgeous and iconic guitar intro from Lebanese singer Fairuz’s “Ana La Habibi.”

Shining a light on a music industry that remains comfortably “complicit in their platform of silence,” more and more artists are starting to speak up. We see it in their Instagram feeds and Stories. They’re ripping off the muzzle that labels and management misguidedly placed on them. This song will inspire many to do the same.

It goes without saying; however, many artists have bravely and consistently spoken the truth in solidarity with Palestine. From Kehlani to BjörkDua Lipa, The Weeknd, Patti Smith, Shirley Manson (Garbage), and many more—countless musicians are unafraid to show their support. Macklemore’s new song just might be the much-needed catalyst to inspire more.

With the song and video “Hind’s Hall” getting mass praise from fans and musicians alike, Tom Morello of Rage Against The Machine shared on his social media:

“Honestly @macklemore’s “Hind’s Hall” is the most Rage Against The Machine song since Rage Against The Machine.”

From his live performances to his social media platforms, the artist and activist Macklemore has been an inspiring force in showing solidarity with the people of Palestine. Finding a place amongst some of the most regarded protest songs ever created, Macklemore’s “Hind’s Hall” is as goosebumps-inducing as it is head-bob-inducing. If you thought “Thriftshop” and “Can’t Hold Us” were quite the jams, get ready to blast “Hind’s Hall” on repeat. And once it hits streaming platforms, all proceeds will be donated to UNRWA.

Over the past few weeks, students across American colleges and universities around the world have been fearlessly protesting that their universities divest from Israel. As yet another show of solidarity, Macklemore’s new song “Hind’s Hall” not only reveals his unwavering solidarity with the Palestinian people but also honors Hind Rajab, the six-year-old Palestinian girl who was killed by the Israeli military. It also celebrates the bravery of college students across the U.S. and their right to protest.

The slick production and those dope-ass beats are intoxicating, but more importantly, the meaning behind Macklemore’s flows will make your heart skip a beat. Just like the brutal injustices that were served on Rajab and the people of Palestine, “Hind’s Hall” has the power to fire you up and make you cry, all at the same moment.

Over a slick beat, Macklemore raps about everything from the farce of police protecting the people to the heartless politicians, political groups, and Fortune 500 companies who will do anything to protect their bottom line.

“Politicians who serve by any means, AIPAC, CUFI, and all the companies…”

In the accompanying music video for “Hind’s Hall,” the smooth beats and intentional lyrics are delivered in immaculate rhythm to scenes of some of the aforementioned soulless politicians and companies.

While calling out the muzzle social media and politicians have attempted to place on the truth, Macklemore pays respect to the many fallen members of the press, and the few brave voices that are left to deliver the unfiltered truth (specifically, Bisan and Motaz).

“You can ban TikTok, take us out the algorithm, but it’s too late; we bearing witness”

Macklemore makes evident the double standard of who gets the “right to defend” and “the right to resistance,” as he fiercely spits to the beat: “We see the lies.”

Sharing information through social media platforms is how many people receive their news today, especially the younger generations. People around the world are seeing in real-time what is happening to the Palestinian people and who are the countries funding the vile slaughter. There is no hiding the truth anymore, like in the old days. Countless protests have taken place around the globe in solidarity with Palestine.

“I’ve seen Jewish brothers and sisters out there and riding, in solidarity and screaming, organizing, unlearning…”

In the video, Macklemore shows support from the Jewish people. From young adults holding signs that read “never again means never again to anyone,” to the Jewish elders lined up and holding a banner that reads, “Jewish elders to Biden, stop the genocide, ceasefire now” — the scenes are compelling and signify unity.

Truly a powerful protest song and video, “Hind’s Hall” is the most honest and important piece of music released in 2024 and, without a doubt, one of the most important protest songs in history.

Numerous wars and genocides have occurred around the globe. But never has one been broadcast with such an abundance of information, including photography, videos, and firsthand accounts. The information overload has opened the eyes of so many people who have now educated themselves on the truth. And sometimes, the truth hurts and can make others uncomfortable and act out in fear and/or hate.

Unlike the great Gil Scott-Heron’s 1971 song “The Revolution Will Not Be Televised,” this revolution will be televised … by the people. The sentiment, however, remains the same, as biased mainstream media and the wallets of billionaires decide what is and isn’t televised on network television and popular radio.

But as the music artist, poet, and activist Patti Smith said, “People have the power.”

The people have been unlearning what has been fed to them in their “world history class” (or conveniently omitted). They have spent the past eight months educating themselves as they learn some painful truths. They’re fearlessly organizing, donating, and making sure all bear witness to the horrors of humanity, and it begins with what is currently happening to the People of Palestine. And it goes without saying that we recognize the humanitarian crisis in Sudan, Afghanistan, Somalia, and other countries.

Furthermore, amplifying the timely importance of this song, Macklemore also has words with U.S. President Biden. With the presidential elections just months away: “The blood is on your hands, Biden; we can see it all. Fuck, no! I’m not voting for you in the fall! UNDECIDED”

This is a revolution. And Macklemore‘s new song, “Hind’s Hall” is the anthem for this revolution.
