Despite a particularly dread-inducing drone in the background, the woozy groove of “Stoked & Stoned” from Munan captures the dizzying feeling of being, well, stoked and stoned. As if made to be slightly off-tune, the instruments are so distinct they could be from different songs entirely yet somehow come together without any sound clashes occurring. This unexpected fusion of sounds is best heard after the chorus when an especially buzzy guitar cuts through the relatively relaxed instrumentation, which is a welcomed kick of energy.

As “Stoked & Stoned” progresses, the seemingly never-ending groove and repeated lyrics make for an appropriately hypnotic experience. Then, what could be described as a “crash” into euphoria comes with a soft acoustic guitar contrasting the still buzzing guitar, eventually leading to the two canceling each other and fading into the background in favor of lush synths.
