Despite the destructive fire on the main stage, Tomorrowland in the Belgian town of Boom was a success. Workers put in tireless work to clear the debris, incorporating the remains of the main stage, and delivered an event nothing short of a miracle. Check out the photos of the stage and head over to the Tomorrowland Instagram to show some love for the production workers who put in a lot of hard work to make the mainstage happen.

But wait, how did the mainstage happen so quickly? A certain iconic metal band came to the rescue. Read on for the tea.

How Did Tomorrowland Create a New Mainstage So Quickly?

According to Rolling Stone (via local news outlet, HLN), stage parts from the European leg of Metallica’s current M72 World Tour, stored in Austria, were airlifted to the site overnight, ensuring the main stage proceedings could go ahead as planned. Ravers can thank Metallica for that one!

Festival partners Pixel Screen, Stageco and Prismax also came through to ensure the rebuild the stage.

Martin Garrix, who performed at Tomorrowland, snapped a photo with Lars Ulrich, thanking Metallica for saving the day.

“I can not believe I’m actually typing this… but my set at Tomorrowland is still happening! 🙏
massive love and a big shoutout to the incredible @tomorrowland team for pulling off miracles — and to @Metallica for coming through with the new stage parts 🤘”

In other news at Tomorrowland, The Hind Rajab Foundation (HRF), a Belgian pro-Palestinian organization, filed a complaint with prosecutors against two Israeli soldiers “responsible for grave international crimes” in Gaza who were seen among the crowds at Tomorrowland, waving a flag of the Givati Brigade. The HRF website shared a photo of the flag at Tomorrowland, along with a complaint that stated, “A group of young Israeli men were seen yesterday at Tomorrowland while waving the flag of the Israeli Givati Brigade—a unit extensively documented for its role in the systematic destruction of civilian infrastructure in Gaza and for carrying out mass atrocities against the Palestinian population.” See the full complaint via the HRF’s website.

Also, it was reported that a 35-year-old Canadian woman died at a nearby hospital after falling ill after attending the first night of Tomorrowland. According to the Antwerp Public Prosecution Office, “Initial findings indicate strong evidence of a drug-related death. An autopsy and a thorough toxicology examination will provide definitive answers.”

Tomorrowland weekend two begins this Friday, July 25. Both weekends are expected to welcome some 400,000 attendees with a stacked lineup featuring performances by Amelie LensAnymaSwedish House Mafia, Martin Garrix, David GuettaArmin van BuurenCharlotte de WitteHardwell, and many more.
