He may be coming off a headline North American tour, but London singer-songwriter Master Peace is just getting started with his new single “Good Times,” off the upcoming Feb. 27 EP Stupid Kids.
The track is similar to past material, taking after indie bands like Bloc Party but rebranding those influences under Peace’s imprint. However, “Good Times” quickly distinguishes itself through the unabashed embrace of living for a good time, not a long time, and the underlying frantic energy present throughout
His recent rise in popularity isn’t the only thing that’s been going seamlessly, considering the making of “Good Times” came about organically. On Instagram, Peace revealed he wrote the song in an hour, adding it’s “probably the quickest song I’ve ever made.”
Although it’s clear where Peace draws inspiration from based on the first few seconds, there’s an unmistakably modern and sheen quality to “Good Times” that speaks to how locked-in he is as an artist.
Rather than letting the bouncy drums hijack the track into a rager or making the post-punk instrumentation at large take over the atmosphere, Peace finds the middle-ground for “Good Times,” a feat he accomplishes time and time again in his music.
