Brinck inhabits a transfixing realm of alt-pop, one that ebbs and flows with sonorous percussion and bittersweet confessions of the heart. The way her voice languidly floats from glowing heights to grating lows calls to mind the dark allure of Billie Eilish, while the dynamic pliancy of her melodies reflects contemporaries like Abby Sage. If you’re a fan of either or are just looking for a new favorite artist—you know, the kind that makes you giddy at the thought of future music—this one’s for you.
If you’re just now discovering Brinck, then you’ve arrived at the perfect moment: since emerging in 2020, she’s compiled several singles and a debut EP. Since then, she’s shared two more new songs, the most recent being “Boyfriend” (more on this absolute earworm in a moment)—so it’s safe to say she’s on track for another project. On top of that, she’s demonstrated an unfaltering skill for switching up her sound.

From bass-dominating atmospherics (“Honeybee”) to inserting nostalgic acoustics into radiantly minimalist and buoyant pop (“Deja Vu”), her two introductory singles proved to be an early sign of Brinck’s tendency to evolve between releases. Yet they also revealed a disarming lyrical intimacy: one raw but softened by the weightless ebullience of her voice or made all the more haunting because of those ethereal murmurs.
In other words, she taps ever so organically into both elusive emotion and the swirling soundscapes they resonate best with. The prismatic Here With Me (2022) arrived to effectively broaden Brinck’s sonic palette—coating them in twinkling synths, dreamily swaying with a bubbly urgency, even jauntily driving riffs that add an alt-rock buoyancy to her sound (“Bad Taste”).
“Wannabe” and “Hit and run (City Love)” are two beguiling gems on the EP, the kind of tracks you let bump as a nighttime metropolis of neon streaks past, speeding toward or away from a romantic rendezvous. Directed by Eden Shohat and Moran Moradi, the music video for “Wannabe” envisions the tender but fiercely yearning desire that follows a serendipitous interaction between Brinck and another woman played by Moyra Pickup.
Last summer, Brinck returned with the sunny and breezy “All About Me,” but it’s this year’s “Boyfriend” that’s going to send a whole new wave of listeners her way before the year is over. Fully leaning into her style of alt-pop, the track embodies everything that makes her music so thrilling: embracing the raspy, breathy allure of her voice, the melody saunters over a potent elastic bass line, and the rich textures of distorted guitars.
Before the song has even finished, you’ll find yourself giddily resigned to the fact that it will be on repeat for the foreseeable future—although that’s going to be a common theme when listening to Brinck’s music. Stay tuned for her latest single, “think about it” which arrives September 6th.
